strength of wire rope.

Muncy manufactures the Upson-Walton Swage Socket product line. Upson-Walton swage sockets

range from ¼” wire rope to 3” wire rope, among the largest made in the world. Kulkoni generally

stocks Upson-Walton swage sockets for wire ropes ranging from ¼” through 2”. Upson Walton Sock-

ets are made of special steel with mechanical and physical properties that enhance swaging, durabil-

ity and strength. For open swage sockets, the socket pin and cotter fit tightly into the socket’s ears for

optimal surface contact for durability.

Boom Pendants, Structural, Lifting Device Applications

Upson-Walton swage sockets are used all over the world in many applications. Swage sockets are

used in lattice type, or latticework boom cranes. Some crane manufacturers have specified swage

sockets drilled for the next size rope for weight savings. Swage sockets can be found in bridges, sta-

diums, and many structures.

Upson-Walton™ Closed Swage Sockets

Upson-Walton Swage Socket are made of special steel with mechanical and physical properties that

enhance swaging, durability, and strength. Upson-Walton closed swage sockets are sometimes used

by themselves for specific pins, or in conjunction with our open swage sockets.

Upson-Walton Swage Sockets are Made in USA

Muncy manufactures its Upson-Walton swage sockets from material and forgings made in the USA.

Muncy machines and performs its secondary processes in the United States. When you receive a

swage socket with an “Upson-Walton” or “UW” on the forging, you can know with confidence it was

Made In USA.

Upson-Walton Sockets are easy to swage onto Wire Rope

Many Upson-Walton socket users like how UW swage sockets swage onto wire rope. Upson Wal-

ton’s heat treat process is designed with the swaging process in mind, as the socket is subjected to

extreme pressure between dies during swaging.
